About Manual Handling Academy

What we do
Generic manual handling training teaches everyone to lift boxes. The work most Australians actually do is more specific than that: repositioning a resident, pushing a loaded pallet jack, lifting a toddler, carrying a sheet of plasterboard. We publish one course per sector — 9 so far — that teaches the same Australian work health and safety framework and then spends its time on the tasks, equipment and situations of that kind of work.
The training and the assessment are free to complete. You pay A$49 only if you pass and want the Certificate of Completion, which carries a unique number and QR code that any employer can verify online.
How the courses are built
- Every course follows the model work health and safety laws and Safe Work Australia’s Model Code of Practice for hazardous manual tasks, with the Victorian OHS framework called out where it differs. The sources are linked from each course.
- Content is written for the sector, checked against the regulator guidance it cites, and reviewed on a fixed schedule. Each course page shows its last review date.
- If something in a course is out of date or wrong for your workplace, tell us and it gets fixed in the next review.

What this training is not
Manual Handling Academy is not a Registered Training Organisation. Our courses are non-accredited workplace training: not Nationally Recognised Training, not HLTWHS005, not an AQF qualification, and they do not issue a Statement of Attainment. They do not replace the practical, equipment-specific training and supervision your employer must provide. We say this on every page because a certificate is only worth what it honestly claims.
